Cameron, I think your daddy is having some "nesting" changes of his own. He has read more books in the past month than the entire previous eight years that I have known him! A friend let me borrow Marley and Me, which is a story about a man and his dog throughout the years, so I think it was funny and your daddy could identify with all the crazy characteristics of his Labrador. He finished that one and then moved on to a book called The Shack that your Grandma Godsey gave to us. I finished it and told him how intense and interesting it was, so I guess I won him over. As much as it used to drive him crazy when I would get absorbed into a book, I kind of like having him reading at the same time as me. The house is so peaceful and Joe Dog just lays by us and snores. I hope that we will instill a love of reading in you. I have so many books that I hope you will enjoy someday.
And speaking of enjoyment, your daddy made the most incredible peach cobbler from SCRATCH this week. We stopped in Fredericksburg on our way home and bought the sweetest fresh peaches, and he promptly made them into the most mouth-watering thing to ever come out of our oven. He likes cobbler with a really good thick crust (made out of a cake mix preferably) with lots of cinnamon and brown sugar, I think. I fully admit that I had nothing to do with any of it. The peeling, the slicing, the mixing, the spicing... He couldn't believe that a friend and I finished off the leftovers at work the next day. I told him that it just means he can make another one!
I've been thinking alot lately about how lucky I am to have a husband and partner that chips in his fair share. He tends to take on most of the heavy-duty outdoor chores, but still helps me around the house all the time. It would drive me crazy to hear him say that taking out the trash and doing the laundry "aren't his job" because he's a man. I hope that someday you have a husband that will recognize that you are just as smart and busy as he is, and that sharing those duties really makes them more pleasant to do. I love when your daddy washes up after dinner and lets me dry and put things away. In fact, I love it even more when he has cooked us something delicious to eat! I say that I am a bad cook, but the truth is that I just like his cooking better anyway! Someday when you are older, we will gladly force you to do chores to, but for now, I will be thankful that he is by my side ready to help.
