Little Bear,
Today my doctor told me that you are still hanging in there but your blood levels are approaching what she would consider to be a problem number. It gets more difficult to trust the ultrasound to give her all the information she needs to know that you are still okay but of course she doesn't want to do invasive tests all the time either. Fortunately, you have grown and gotten stronger (now you are about 33 and 1/2 weeks along) so we are leaning more toward an early delivery than anything else. So for now, we are going to get Mommy two steroid shots this week to help your lungs speed up their development and then we are going to see how you are doing next week.
Her exact words were "You are not going to make it to 37 weeks," which was the finish line that we had set up even if everything was still going perfectly.
Honestly, I think I took the news well because this is exactly what I thought would happen. I am glad to at least have a week to try and get things situated at my office and prepare a bit more around the house for you. There are a few things that I didn't even think about until today! Your daddy is trying to cross a bunch of things off his list too, and I am actually a little bit glad that you won't be waiting for your arrival to perfectly coincide with the beginning of football season. :)
But here is what I really want you to know. Someday if you look back and wonder why I didn't write you more blogs or seem like I was thinking about you more, I want you to understand that I did think about you every single day. I will honestly say that it took both your Daddy and I some time to come to the place of excitement and joy over your arrival that we are at now. The shock over you and the sudden change of all the plans we thought would happen this year was a bit much! But now we pray for your safe arrival, for your health and development, for the blessing that you will be to our family.
I am still a bit nervous over how your brother and sister will react to the changes. Cameron will be starting kindergarten soon so I think she will be thrilled that you're here and then blissfully distracted. Rhys may take a bit more time to understand why our time is stretched a bit thinner, but I want you know that we are going to do our very best to love and spend individual time with each of you. I have already begun to imagine the different personalities you will all have, the different gifts that God will give to each of you. I know that our family will be blessed in unique ways by the three of you and I can't wait to see what's in store.
I want you to know how happy you have made me, to feel your wiggles and see your sweet profile each visit to the doctor's office. I love that you already know the songs that I sing at bedtime and that you still let me get a decent night's sleep. I have great hopes that you will be a flexible guy, ready to roll with the schedule, and I love that you will be my little snuggle buddy since you will most likely be the smallest baby of our family. As I washed your tiny jammies this week, I was astounded at how small you will start out. But I know big things often come in small packages.
For now, we will spend the next week trying to be patient and not worry over your arrival. I am very blessed to have doctors that are concerned for you and want to be cautious. I know that whenever you are welcomed into the world, it will be the right time and we will deal with whatever that scenario presents. We already adore you and can't believe you will be here before we know it.
All my love,
Mama

Sometimes Life Just Happens
Let me give you a little back story…..
We had just had such a wonderful Christmas, and then Cameron got hit with a stomach bug that seemed to be going around everywhere. We survived and made the trip home from Abilene, but for quite a while afterward I was feeling a little off. So I finally made an appointment to see a general family doctor close to my office. I was very concerned that I might have a lingering virus or stomach ulcer or something that was brought on by stress. The doctor told me he needed to run a whole bunch of tests to rule out things, so I left all the samples and headed home. Then as I was getting on the highway, my doctor called me and asked if I could turn around and come back. He said he meant to talk with me before I had left. I was a little alarmed but I headed right back there. He immediately told me that one of my test results was already in and he didn't want to give me the news over the phone while I was driving.
I had a positive pregnancy test.
And I immediately said, "That's not possible, my husband had a vasectomy in March!"
He assured me that it was possible, but that he would do another blood test and give me the results the following Monday. Well, thanks for the setting me up for a horribly worrisome weekend Doc! Because not only did I have to freak out about the possibility but I had to go home and tell my husband…
And you can imagine why that conversation was not possibly going to go well. Let's just say that Bo went back to his doctor five days later to have a test run that confirmed that his vasectomy GREW BACK TOGETHER. He had a test 6 weeks after the initial procedure that confirmed it had worked, and just 6 months later, it had miraculously reversed itself. The doctor told Bo that he was the 4th patient that this had happened to in the last 26 years. So as much as we were not thrilled that Bo has such miraculous super genes, at least I could say that there was no doubt that this was a miracle that God had to ordain for our family.
But here is the problem. After Rhys was born with so many problems, our doctor made a strong recommendation that we not have any more children. So we took that as a clear sign that our family was finished with babies and we were perfectly happy to cherish our two. We had a garage sale last October and cleared out all the baby toys and little tiny clothes, and I happily gave away or sold every scrap of maternity clothing that I owned. We mentally closed that chapter of our lives and were making lots of plans for 2014.
Cameron would start Kindergarten and our daycare bill would be gloriously cut in half. We were going to take a fabulous summer trip for our 10 year anniversary. Rhys would hopefully be out of diapers by the end of this year and we would be rid of them forever! And now we are starting all over…
Selfishly, Bo and I both thought of all the reasons why we didn't want God to change all our plans. This is going to change a lot of things financially and logistically for us. (I can't drive my Toyota Camry with three car seats in the back!) And I will admit that I didn't know if I could handle the emotional roller coaster of another baby born with a myriad of health issues caused by my own blood. For an explanation of why my antibodies are a problem for this baby, this is a really good site that explains the condition. But God is softening our hearts and showing us that trusting his plan for our family can't have self-imposed limits. We cannot be afraid to open our hearts and love a baby that may be sick for the first few months of its life, or may be at risk to not even survive past delivery.
I have already been seeing my regular OB that delivered both Rhys and Cameron, as well as a maternal fetal medicine specialist who are regularly monitoring my blood levels (which are already increasing in levels related to those antibodies). For now we are praying for as uneventful of a pregnancy as possible, and my doctors say the magic number is try and make it to 35 weeks so we can do a C-section. We are sharing the news so that we can ask for your prayers for our family and this sweet little miracle.
Here he or she was the day before Valentine's Day…

We are now fourteen weeks along and are slowly getting over the shock. We are so touched by the joy and support that our family and friends have shown us. We are very blessed to have a network of love and prayers working on our behalf already to petition the Lord for this baby.
This is the scripture that is written on our bathroom mirror as a reminder to be thankful in all circumstances for this blessing:
Psalm 127: 3-5 "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warriors hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!"

Oh Baby!
It has been so long since I posted on this blog, I actually had to go back and reread the last post just to remember where I left off. But the phrase that I am telling myself is, "Sometimes you have to live life first and blog about it later." So here goes with the abridged version of life in the past four months....
When I left my full-time job, we were initially scared and thought that we would put some plans on hold until we felt like we were back in control. God apparently laughed at us and said, "whatever." He knew that we would probably think it was crazy timing, but we got pregnant anyway. So in mid-December, I thought I had better get myself to a doctor and find out just how far along we were before we started spreading the news. Surprisingly, we were seven weeks pregnant and it will probably feel like an entire year before this kid arrives, but we were still excited to share our joy with our families at Christmas. Sweet Cameron got her first "Big Sister" shirt and ambushed Grammy, who promptly squealed and said, "REALLY?!?!?"
I was also offered a full-time job at the tax consulting firm, which I could only take in good conscience by telling them that they were getting a package deal. My boss was the first person I told other than Bo! He was so kind and encouraging, saying that it would work out perfectly and he was thrilled for me. Thank the Lord that he sent me to this company just when I needed it the most. Though it would mean that I could no longer do part time work for the other ministry, I felt like it was the right thing for our family and they very graciously understood (and only briefly made me feel bad for abandoning them so soon after jumping in!)
Right away in January, I started to work at JJC full-time, though mostly I was just trying to figure out what was most helpful and trying to learn exactly what they do. It was so amazing to be in an environment that was comfortable talking about our Christian faith, praying and sharing our concerns with one another. Especially in such a stressful business, caring about and seeing each other through Christ's eyes makes a huge difference when people's patience might start to run thin. I loved hearing how much everyone respects and appreciates one another. The Christmas party was like one big love-fest, with each person having more kind and complimentary things to say than I had probably ever heard at any other workplace. Bo even commented that he was so excited for me to be working somewhere like that.
Work business sort of made me forget that I was expecting, other than the nausea and constant exhaustion. I would come home after work and just want to collapse in bed. Fortunately, I didn't really get sick and managed to still make it through most things. But then all of a sudden, some of our very dear friends from church had storms take over their lives. Ian Warshak was in the hospital for almost two entire months and literally came back from the brink of death. Seeing him in the hospital was so scary to me as a wife and mother, and it consumed my thoughts for weeks. How fragile we are. How we are completely invincible one moment and crushed the next. I just couldn't bring myself to celebrate a tiny baby growing in me when so many people I loved were hurting and unsure of what the next day would bring. Another dear family that we love found out that their sweet little boy would have to endure another round of chemo and radiation for the ugly cancer that had reared its head again. And I felt myself doubting that God has good plans. That perhaps He would allow us all to see what it feels like to let the world have its way with us.
All the while, this sweet baby just kept growing and growing. I felt flutters of movement at around 15 weeks, much earlier than I did with Cameron. I think this time I just had a better idea of what I was feeling and was so surprised. The doctor said I was pleasantly normal and unexciting. We opted out of all the genetic testing again because we knew it would make no difference to us. Shortly after, I read a blog about a woman who gave birth to a beautiful daughter and was blindsided with the news that she had down syndrome. One of her nurses told her that she also had a "special child" and that even though she was long since gone, she knew that her daughter's life was a gift. I cried and thanked God for the reminder.
Now I am 21 weeks along, doing great according to my last visit. The doctor is making me wait forever for the sonogram, but next week we should know if Cameron is getting a little brother or little sister (her request from the get-go.) We have been tossing around names but don't feel 100% settled just yet. I did briefly go crazy planning an entire nursery for a little boy, only to have to shelve it all until we know more. I remember thinking with Cameron that we were having a boy, so maybe my senses are just completely off anyway. Why guess? We will be thrilled either way.
Long story short, I don't want the new baby to perhaps look back on these early months and feel ignored. With your first pregnancy, you quickly become obsessed and worried and cannot stop talking about it. This time around, I feel like we will just figure things out when they come, and that I don't have to panic about it all for no reason. I just want to enjoy it.
In fact, tonight Baby and I had a great time listening to music together, and we decided on our official lullaby. With Cameron, I used to sing her "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" before she was born, and when she was a tiny baby it would actually calm her down.. This time around, I will be singing lots of this song:
Baby #2, you are loved, you are thought of, you are a gift.
Love, Mama

You're FINALLY Here!!!!!!!

Hi Baby Cameron!! It's so nice to finally meet you in person. Your Mommy and I are so thankful that you decided not to stall this time. Once you made up your mind to enter the world you made quick work of it. Mommy is doing great. You should see her smile when she holds you in her arms. Everyone is so excited to meet you. I have to put your pictures on the net for all of your family and friends to see. I can't wait to get to know you better. I love you!
Love,
Daddy

The Waiting Game
Miss Behaving,
The doctor put two big sensors on my tummy yesterday to check out what all was happening with us. One picked up your heartbeat and the other was supposed to monitor contractions. Let's just say that one didn't get much of a workout. But your heartrate went up and down and I felt you move alot. After seeing the readout, she said you are a "perfectly reactive" baby. Still healthy and comfy to stay put. Sorry sweet girl, but you are about to be served your eviction notice!
I have an official time to go to the hospital - Wednesday afternoon - and they will start me on some medicine that will hopefully make inducing labor easier. I have been waiting so long to write a blog post that worked in the phrase "cervix softening!" The next morning is when we will kick off the big shibang, and you will most likely have a birthday of October 30th! Should be easy to remember!
So now is just a matter of passing the time. I can't really be up and running for more than a few hours before I get worn out, but I am trying to stay busy. Today is grocery shopping and maybe cleaning a bit. Last night your daddy let me boss him around and we reorganized the storage building. It needed a new set of shelves and we cleaned and swept it all out. Looks nice and big and organized now. He even bought me Tetris to play on the Wii (since I stink at all the hard games) and bought the Internet channel so I can check emails without having to climb up the stairs. It is super cool and should be very handy when you are keeping my hands full. I can see us looking up recipes or answers to funny questions.
Just so you know, your daddy and I are really anxious about your arrival. I have never had to stay in the hospital before, so we hope that everything goes smoothly and that you are here before we know it. He is really ready to take a week off from work too! He can't wait to spend time with you since I have been hogging you for all these months. He says that he is so excited, but really nervous about officially becoming a dad and feeling so responsible for you and me. He loves you so much and hasn't even laid eyes on you yet!
You know, if you decide to change our plans and come a bit before Thursday morning, I am totally okay with that. Everyone in our family is just waiting for the call. Your Grammy even mixed up her planning period with a class coming to her science lab and the poor kids missed out on doing their science activity for the day. She says she is more calm today but in her words, she was "a basketcase!" Do us all a favor, and quit making us play the waiting game!

Young lady, do you know what day it is?
Well, still nothing. We have spent the weekend doing everything that people have said brings on labor. Walking, eating spicy foods, uh... don't ask about that other thing. It doesn't work either. But we did have some excitement on Friday. One of the perks of your daddy's job is that he occasionally gets to meet famous people. And he says this was the best one ever:

That's right - King George. He came in for a knee brace and your daddy had quite a conversation with him. Said he is very kind but shorter in person than you think. :)
Since we have run out of things to do other than sit around and wonder why you are taking so long, your Grammy decided to come keep me company for a few days. Maybe she just wanted to have a head start on all your other grandparents if you decided to make your arrival... Well, you showed her. We spent Saturday morning hanging out at home with Emerson and Ryan and your Aunt Rachael. It was funny to see how interested Emerson is in Joe Dog and how nervous he is around her. He did lots of sniffing but would bolt anytime she made a grab for him. We had a fabulous lunch and did a bit of shopping, which was the true highlight of the weekend thanks to Crazy 8. I had no idea that we had a store in San Antonio, so I will be making many more trips there in the future. Check out the cute new things you got, little girl!

Who doesn't need a dress with milk and cookies on it? We even picked up a few Christmas presents while we were at it. We had a great time. Then your daddy took all of us out for a fancy dinner at our favorite place, Scenic Loop Cafe. We might not be eating there again for a while, so it was a wonderful evening with cool weather on the patio. Next time, I am having a margarita for sure!
But today, we are still waiting. Nothing to pass the time. Tomorrow we go back in to get monitored for a bit and hopefully we will set a time to induce labor. You know, I have always been a bit of a procrastinator (just ask my roommates about my senior thesis) but I can get amazing things done at the last minute. No doubt you have your own plans. Could I possibly entice you with the fancy new cusions that your Grammy brought for the rocking chair? Story is that your Papa brought this rocking chair home to Grammy when she was pregnant with me, and that's why she wanted us to have it. Now we will have two rocking chairs in the house, so I hope it is a magic calming thing for you.
Seriously, can we make some kind of agreement here? I know I am doing a great job as your incubator, and it is probably my own fault for giving you such amazing food and music to listen to. But you have to come out of there at some point! Your mommy really wants to wear pants with zippers again. Any chance for Tuesday? It's Ashley's birthday, and maybe if we make that your birthday too, she might start to like babies just a little bit. Let's talk more over some ice cream.

Please, Not Halloween!
Well, this is my 100th post, but I wish I had more news to share... Went to the doctor again and after another uncomfortable exam, the big story is.... NOTHING. Apparently someone let word slip that your mommy has a habit of being fashionably late, so you have decided to take after me! The doctor said that she would bring me in to be monitored on Monday afternoon and we can decide from there on when to induce labor after that. Absolutely no later than Halloween, but I really don't want that to be your birthday! We will see what we can do to make sure you arrive before then. You deserve to have your own special day and not compete with such a crazy holiday. Halloween has never been my favorite and I hate all the gory decorations and scary costumes. I guess we never really made a big deal out of it when I was little and we always celebrated at the church festivals. It might also have been a factor that we lived out in the country and weren't going to walk 5 miles to knock on people's doors for candy!
Anyway, we are going to have a peaceful next few days. No plans for the weekend other than you! Everyone is so anxious to hear that you have arrived. I am trying not to call too many people because their first thought is that I am in labor. Hate to get them all worked up just to say hello and that I am bored!
At least I got one good chuckle today. Your daddy's stepmom emailed me a funny list of ways to prepare for parenthood. Some were a bit depressing (lack of sleep, being broke), but this one had me laughing - "Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week’s groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children." Nice, huh?

All this Grownup Stuff
Love Bug,
Today I had to laugh at an email that I got at work. I have been trying to inform my contacts that I am going to be leaving through the end of the year so I can be at home with you. This woman (who I am sure would have been embarrassed if I had called her out on it) sent an email to the people under her informing them that I was going to be out on my "Maturity Leave!" I guess it is appropriate, and I will be forced to feel like more of a grownup after you are born!
Every day that passes just makes me wish you were already here. I am worried that this waiting will go on forever, and that labor will be days on end. After talking to your Aunt Rachael, (I am sure she was just trying to not sugar-coat things) she assured me that labor for our Haley women takes forever. Yippee, thanks! I guess we will know more when we go back to the doctor again on Wednesday morning. You are starting to look like that 20% of babies that come past their due date.... Or maybe you are just like your mommy and are a bit of a planner. You might arrive exactly on schedule just because that is when you had your arrival on the calendar!
Your daddy decided to go get a haircut this week to make sure that he looks nice for all the pictures he plans to take with you. All his curls got cut off, but he still looks handsome. He must have been going for the low-maintenance look. We talked the other night about which one of us we think you will look like. He says that you will be much prettier if you look like me, but I just said that I hope you don't take after his facial hair. :) I need to ask your Grammy to bring some of my baby pictures with her when she comes to see you so that we can compare. It is hard to guess your features off of fuzzy ultrasound pictures, but you seem to have big eyes like me.
Well, I am trying to be a trooper and hang in there as long as I can. Half days at work this week was the best idea ever. And this afternoon, I am going back for another prenatal massage. My back has been hurting alot and I am finally to that phase where it is uncomfortable to sit in the car, lay down in bed, bend over, or stand for long periods of time. I guess that pretty much means all the time... You don't seem to mind so much. Maybe I need to stop eating so much good food so you are a little anxious to get outta there! It must be Daddy's fault for making his delicious peach cobbler again.

All Packed Up with Nowhere to Go
Cameron,
All the preparations are being taken care of for your arrival, my little sweetheart. Your daddy fought and fought with the base of your car seat (first one went in my car) and had almost gotten it balanced and clipped in when I walked out to check on his progress. The first thing I said was, "Did you forget to put the seat saver underneath?" It is a little cushy pad that is supposed to protect the upholstery and catch messes... So in frustration, he grunted and had to take it all off and start over. Needless to say, he gave up after that one and has yet to put the other bases in his car and pickup truck.
I think I almost have our hospital bags packed too. Yours was easy, just clothes and tiny mittens and burp cloths. Mommy's bag on the other hand, has to have lots of toiletries and pajamas and movies (just in case) and something to wear home. Your daddy says I should go ahead and put them in my car but I feel like that might just backfire and make you take even longer to arrive!
Speaking of your arrival, I went to the doctor again today. Since we are at about 38 1/2 weeks, we thought there might be the possibility that you are starting to show signs of coming...... but no! Nothing! We did get a good report on your heart rate and my blood pressure and I actually didn't gain any weight from last week (must be all that walking your daddy makes me do). So the doctor recommended that I stay busy and try to be patient. I think I am just making you too comfy in there and you have no immediate plans for eviction! At least I can say, contrary to the horrible description on your little weekly ticker up there, I generally feel good. I think as the days go by, I might start to have more swollen feet and back aches, but I am still trying to make it to work and be productive. As much as I wish I could just stay home and lay in bed all day, I have to be up and going so that you won't leave me pregnant forever!

Crossing off the To-Do List
Meant to post this on Saturday....

Because Mrs. Cara has the same diaper bag for her little girl Ainslee, I figured we just HAD to get ours monogrammed so they don't get mixed up. The good news is that they have been doing the research for the past couple of months and Cara says that it is a fabulous bag with just the right amount of space. So here is the finished product!
I also filled out all the preregistration paperwork for the hospital and turned it in this week. Hopefully that will streamline the process when we arrive for Cameron's birth! The only weird thing to me is that you have to choose your pediatrician before you are admitted, so it's basically like picking a name out of a hat. There is a new practice that I kept noticing when I drove past it, so I did a little online research (good reviews from their patients, have been in practice for about 10 years) and called them up to make sure they are accepting my insurance and new patients. So I guess whoever is on call will get to come meet Cameron and us for her first checkup at the hospital.
So now we are at the end of the week. My feet and ankles are suddenly really swollen today, so I decided that I needed a pedicure on my lunch break. I found a nice fall orange-y color and the woman gave me the most fabulous massage of my feet and calves. I wish I could have paid more to get twice as long! But with just 15 days to go, I guess I should have expected to look like this... I don't have time to complain much because next week is going to be so busy at work. I am trying to cram in all kinds of things before I disappear for two months!

No Big Hurry
Well, yesterday was your Grandpa's birthday but we are a little late in saying so! There are already 4 of your family members that have October birthdays, so hopefully we will be able to keep everyone straight when you are added into the mix.
Today we went back for our 37 week check up and got lots of good news. The doctor says that we still are doing well on weight and blood pressure. I made sure to get a flu shot today, so hopefully that will keep both you and me from getting sick! They listened to your heartbeat (151 bpm) and we got to do an ultrasound to see how big you are getting. You already weigh over 7 lbs! Your daddy and I saw your sweet little face (which was kind of hidden next to the placenta) and you even had some fingers in your mouth! The technician measured your femur, belly and head and said that your measurements are right on track for your age. You will most likely be a healthy 8 lb.+ baby. We were relieved to confirm that you are a little girl, especially since you have so much pink to welcome you to the world!
The coolest part of the ultrasound was getting to see your little heart pumping. Everything looked like it was working perfectly, but it was so strange to see it, like a little sock puppet mouth with the speed accelerated. Your daddy loves all the medical stuff and was asking lots of questions about what parts we were looking at. We also saw your kidneys and your bladder, which looks big enough to make it through lots of road trips in the future.
The doctor said that you are in no big hurry, so we didn't even do an exam today. I will see her back next Wednesday, and then we will have an idea of how much you are planning on sticking to your arrival date. So for now, I will be patient. I am sure I can keep myself busy with more shopping for you. :)

Just Weeks Away!
Cameron,
For most of the country, September has not been a great month. The hurricane season has been horrible this year, wiping out tons of homes on the gulf states. Galveston was one of the worst, and people there will be rebuilding and trying to put their lives back together for a very long time. We don't really know anyone personally that was affected, but friends and family members of our friends were. (Later addition: This is a great blog entry from Living Proof Ministries based out of Houston.) And then this week, the economy has just dropped off into a pit. The bank systems are finally dealing with all the bad mortgage debt that they took on and I am afraid that a lot of people are going to lose their jobs and a lot of money too. The government is still trying to work on their plan to help by handing over a huge ($700 BILLION) influx of cash to the industry, but it is not looking good. Please don't even mention the stock market to your Grammy - she worries enough as it is.
But the truth is that you are the thing that consumed my thoughts for this month, and most of the past few as well. Just the other night, your daddy told me that he had the funny realization that all along, he has just had his mind set that you would be arriving on October 25th. That he didn't even consider that you could be here any day now... Of course, my doctor said that things are still progressing perfectly and that she didn't expect me to do "anything crazy" in the next few weeks, but the truth is that you are probably big enough and healthy enough to make it just fine out here in the big world.
Not that I am ready! You are definitely starting to seem more cramped, but you haven't kept me from going to work or getting a decent amount of sleep. I definitely love the part about eating for two, and I think you are hitting a growth spurt because I am finally able to eat a good dinner again. The funny thing lately is your hiccups. I have felt the little "bomp, bomp, bomp" that is so perfectly in time that I knew that had to be what it was. It is always on the bottom left side of my tummy, where I am pretty sure your back is laying most of the time. The doctor told me that hiccups are a good sign that you are doing well because it means you are swallowing more fluid and your lungs are preparing to breathe. It makes me smile to picture you in there hiccupping, because every time I take a drink of something carbonated, I have to hiccup too.
So we are down to just a few more weeks until you are officially here. I started thinking today about what I would like your birth announcement to look like and that I should get the list ready now for all the people we want to mail it to. It's gonna be a long list - so many people are anxious to see what you look like! And we just ordered the new upholstery for your stroller. We accidentally put that task on the back burner and are hoping that it makes it here soon. We can't exactly haul you around without a stroller! But the little things are easy to check off. I think preparing ourselves for the responsibility, the change that is coming is what will take the most work. All this excitement and nervousness! We love you and think about you all the time, and I can't even comprehend how those feelings will be a thousand times stronger when you are really here.

Gotta Rub Me the Right Way
This has been the longest week ever... Work has been exhausting and I feel like every time I sit down at my desk, I have to get up and walk all over the place for someone else. I haven't blogged much this week because the thought of climbing the stairs to our computer was just too daunting! Bo says I am starting to get whiny and he worried that the whole last month would be like this. So I assured him that he was correct.
All that walking has turned my feet into sad little puffy sausages at the end of the day. I am still trying to wear somewhat fashionable shoes to work (no heels!) but apparently none of them have decent support. My arches are killing me all the time, so Bo suggested that I go buy some insoles - which I did, but it made me feel ancient! Bo has tried to rub my back some in the evenings, but his hands usually get tired and give up long before I feel like it worked any of the knots out.
So.... tomorrow I am finally going for my prenatal massage! I called and was so excited that they could get me in. My only worry is that I will want one every Saturday until Cameron is born! I hope it is wonderful and may just be a lazy lump for the rest of the day. The only big plan for the day is that we might go get Joe Dog a pedicure (he seriously needs his nails cut and we are too nervous about hurting him) and it is finally time to reveal your daddy's big birthday present. He is going to be so excited!

Cameron the Cantaloupe
Baby Girl,
At 34 weeks, I have read that you are weighing in at just shy of 5 pounds and that you are the size of a cantaloupe. That looks about right for the size of my tummy! Last night we were laying in bed talking (your daddy was still wide awake from too much time playing Zelda on the Wii) and he decided to poke around on my tummy and try to feel where you were laying. I think he just irritated you because you decided to start wiggling around and hide your little feet from him. After a few minutes, he got bored and wanted to go to sleep, but OH NO! You were up and going then, and could not manage to lay still and let me go to sleep too. Thanks alot, Daddy! So I made him put his hand under my side so he could feel the constant beat coming from you. I think it is a sign that you have good rhythm already. Maybe you will be very musical!
Now, if Friday would just hurry up and get here. Your Grammy is coming to visit this weekend but your daddy is making a manly getaway to College Station. Your uncle Mina is taking him to his very first A&M football game, and they are playing Miami this weekend. Should be fun! We will spend our time doing girly things instead!
Love you so much, little one.

Aunt Ashley Takes Pity on Me
Saturday a lovely surprise was waiting in our mail box...

Your Aunt Ashley is a bit baby-phobic. She says that I might have my second before she has her first, but I think you, little Cameron, might change her mind. If we can just get her husband through his residency, then they will actually see eachother enough to think about getting knocked up. But for her to even go into a store that sells maternity clothing is huge evidence of just how much she loves us. That's why she said she had to get it in the mail immediately... Can't have that stuff just lying around the house! But she did want me to still be cute even when my belly is getting bigger by the day. I can't help but rock this bump!

The Whirlwind is Upon Us!
What up, Lil C? (See, your mom is still cool.) I have been meaning to blog for so many days now, but I just have too many things on my plate. So now, you will get the abridged version of the past weekend and all that is happening lately...
The first part of the Beth Moore conference on Saturday morning started at 8:30 downtown, so your mommy dragged herself out of bed at 6:45 to make sure to be there on time! That's earlier than I like to get up for work! But it was so worth it. We talked more about Psalm 16, but I had to leave halfway through. A friend was going to take good notes for me, so I will tell you more about that when we have had a chance to talk. But I really felt that God wanted to encourage and bless me in being there, so I didn't want to miss out. It did make the morning a little rushed, because we immediately headed out of town....
For your first baby shower!

Your Grammy played host for a bunch of teachers from her school and lots of family and friends. We had such a nice afternoon and it was a big reminder of how fortunate we are to have people love you before you even arrive! You received lots of adorable baby clothes, some toys, your fabulous Pack N Play (your bed for the first few months) and your super cute swing with the baby owls on the mobile. I have to say that I was super excited for one particular present, even though it isn't exactly a necessity...

I just love this little guy! He has a detachable scoop for all the toys in the bathtub so the water just drains right out. I can't wait to give you baths. Your Aunt Amy even gave you a fuzzy pink bathrobe and bunny slippers. You are set! We were also really thankful for some diapers, gift cards, and basic necessities like bibs, bottles and more. It was another reminder of how soon you will really be here, and how unprepared we really feel! Hey, that's what Grandmas are for, right?
So we made it back home on Sunday after spending some time with your daddy's mom. She will be your "Savta," which is a Hebrew word. See how smart you will be? We went to church and had a nice lunch with Jon (your "Sabba") and your Uncle Jordan. By the time we got home that night, we were relieved to still have the energy to put away some of your new things and go to bed early!
I have to confess that our house is a total disaster area, so your daddy and I said we would tackle one room a night until it is nice and clean again. This is what happens when we are gone on the weekend and I know we won't be having company for a while... This will most likely still be the case when you are older, so don't worry about me being too crazy about cleaning. But I will say how nice it is to have things picked up. The evenings just go by so fast, and then we start all over again.
Today I went back to the doctor for my 31 week checkup. I got my Rogam shot (since I inherited my O-negative blood type) which didn't hurt at all with all that extra cushioning in my hip area! But the doctor said I am doing great, you are growing at just the right pace, and that I am now going to be seeing her every two weeks. She did mention that I am about to be in the more uncomfortable phase of pregnancy because you will start to get cramped and drop down lower. My favorite thing was when I asked her about how you are positioned, and she felt around on my tummy and was able to point out all your little parts. Your butt is often poking out on my left side (looking down at you) and your little feet are what I feel jabbing me in the ribs on my right side. As of now, your head is down but she said you can still flip around a bit when you want. I am so relieved to hear her say how great we are doing...
Because I had a total stranger ask me this weekend if I was having twins! When I said no, she goes, "Oh. That's gonna be a big baby...." Gee, thanks lady! That's about as nice as asking someone who is NOT pregnant when they are due!
But I don't care as long as you are healthy. So I think taking care of me will be a good start to taking care of you. And on that note, it is time for your first official SHOUT OUT! I received the nicest card from your Aunt Cindy who lives in Denver. She said she has been keeping up with the blog, and I am sure it brings back all the memories of when she was pregnant with my cousin Ben (who is now a full-grown dude living in Oklahoma!) She also sent us a special surpise and told me to go get myself a wonderful pre-natal massage. That will definitely be on the calendar before the month of September passes. Love you Cindy!

Cheese with my Whine
It's a rainy, tired sort of day. I have only been at work for two and a half hours but here is the real rub:
1. I decided to experiment with wearing real high heeled shoes today. These pants are long and I didn't want them dragging in puddles. Plus, I have to start dressing up for work more in Sept. After wearing them an hour, I thought to myself, "I'm gonna die!"
2. I ate breakfast number two at 9:00. I feel sick and yet the thing that my mind seems to think would help is eggs.
3. I used my "shock treatment" on my back last night for about an hour and again this morning. I am afraid I am going to be overdoing it! It does seem to help, but I can't exactly walk around with the wires dangling everywhere. I wish my office floor was a giant yoga mat so I could lay down and do some stretching... I just know someone would walk in at just the wrong moment!

Bo, Earmuffs!
One down, two more trips to Abilene to go! Riding in the car for eight hours this weekend was so not the fun part. Getting out and walking around in every other town seemed to help. We spent most of the weekend just running errands and hanging out with family. Your cousin Emerson is looking more and more like this guy... She's just a bit on the chunky side, but Rachael says she will slim down when she starts to crawl around more. It's adorable anyway!
Had to hurry home Sunday to go to another friend's baby shower. I was reminded why Bo specifically requested that we not to a "couples shower" with our church friends, because this is the range of topics discussed:
1. Stretch marks (Good news- most fade after pregnancy. Better news- you can't turn around far enough to see the ones on your butt!)
2. Breast feeding and the accompanying hormones
3. Poopy diaper blowouts with very detailed descriptions
4. Paranoia of new baby sleeping outside your range of hearing them breathe
5. New Mama (lack of) Sex Drive
And that's just the top five! If Bo had to listen to all our conversation, he might have just run away in terror. He made a lot of progress this weekend on the crib, and we just need to go touch up a few places and put the whole thing back together. We also need to make a final choice on the paint colors for the walls. I keep going back and forth. It's like buying lipstick - you never know what it will look like ON YOU. The picture is almost never right.
Finally, to any other future mommies like me that are a bit worried about how they will feel post-partum, I read a very encouraging blog. Warning: it's rated PG-13. But still true and funny and what some people need to hear. I struggled with depression after several people close to me passed away, and the chance of post-partum depression is of course on my mind. I feel great now and hope that I continue to. I don't want the sugar-coated version of the truth, but I know that all the fun and hard work that is coming up will be more than worth the effort. Of all the things I can be in this life, Mommy is both the hardest and best.

My Little Cabbage
Look baby girl! This is you at 28 weeks!

Interesting, huh? You are the size and approximate weight of a Chinese cabbage... I think I need to run to the grocery store and check one out. This week we officially start the third trimester, and I am definitely wondering how it is possible for you to get so much bigger when I don't feel like I have a lot of room left! Eating has recently become a challenge because my eyes are always hungrier than what my stomach can hold, so then I just feel hungry again about three hours later. The bad news is that you still have so much weight to put on, which means YOUR MOMMY has a lot of weight to put on. The sacrifices of a mother... Someday you will look at my butt and I will remind you that it is your fault.
This weekend your daddy's family came to visit for their annual river trip, and we had to sit this one out, kiddo. They decided to float the Guadalupe on Friday and then the Comal river on Saturday. We got to join them for dinner every evening, and we never had to endure a sunburn! (Your mom is seriously pale this summer because it is just too stinkin' hot to be out in the sun... And I am phobic of maternity bathing suits.) Back to the subject! They had a great trip and we loved getting to see everyone. You will love your uncles Tanner and Chance. They are so sweet natured and funny, and just like your dad, kids totally love them. They aren't afraid to be silly and will always be gentle with you!
More news to come later on the baby showers that are being planned for you. We are going to be making the trip to Abilene quite a few times in the next few months! I realized this weekend that there are only 12 more weekends before your scheduled arrival, so we still have a lot of work to do on your room! Your daddy got busy sanding again last night and should have your crib ready to paint in just a few days. That's the big priority... But then we have to paint the walls. It makes me laugh to think that you probably won't even sleep in that room for a few weeks anyway, but we pregos convince ourselves that it is a matter of national security. Oh well. You deserve something special, my little cabbage!

Are you SHOCKED?
C,
If you are born with some crazy or staticky hair, it will totally be your dad's fault. When we last visited with the doctor, Bo asked about some things that might alleviate the lower back pain that I have been having. (Apparently carrying around a new gigantic tummy has changed my posture a bit.) He wanted to know if I could do a "stim" treatment. In a nutshell, it is electroshock therapy.
I have done it a few times and it really does seem to help the pain. When you hook it all up, you get to choose how strong the current is, but you feel like Frankenstein. I guess I will keep trying it at least once a day, and the release of endorphins is supposed to make you feel great. (I thought that was the purpose of eating chocolate...)
Since it is just transmitted through my skin, there is practically no chance that you even notice what is going on. But I think your hair will be the deciding factor in whether or not this was a good idea.
