Finding the Right Feathers

Maybe this is a belated case of nesting. I decided a little bit ago that I was sick and tired of our guest bedroom. When we moved into our house, it was empty other than moving boxes for what seemed like a whole year. We had a guest bed in the room that is now Cameron's, so we didn't really have any furniture or need to decorate bedroom #2. Also, it has a big closet, which I promptly filled up with all my clothes. Our master closet is pathetic!

So anyway, for some reason, I decided that we have lots of visitors and should give that room some style. I finally got the right paint color from my sister Amy (who knew that two different brands at Lowe's had a color called Eiffel Tower?) and we have painted about half of the room. We cleared out the clutter, are donating some of our sad particle-board furniture to some friends' garage sale, and I have already bought most of the bedding and accessories.

And yet, we have no furniture. The paint color is a warm gray, so both Bo and I agreed that we need black furniture. Everything we keep finding is either "espresso" and too brown, or has a funky red tint to it. Will not work! We have looked in stores, online, and even on Craigslist.com. The real problem is that I found a perfect set on there for a great price, emailed the seller, and never heard back. Then when I called back the next day, she had just sold it. Ever since, I have held everythind up to that standard (and low price) and just haven't been pleased.

Yesterday on his way home, Bo even went to Lacks to see what kind of deal they would offer. He asked the salesperson what the price would be if he paid in cash right then and wanted to pick it up from their warehouse that day. "Easiest sale you will ever make." And she wouldn't budge one dollar. She said that their prices are set in stone. So he walked out. He said that men just need to feel like they got a good deal when they drop that much money.

If we don't hurry up and find something, I am afraid our next round of guests will have a mattress on the floor! I have visualized it in my head with all the things put together, so I am just impatient for it to become reality. Women have a thing when their house is under construction. I can deal with every day clutter (Bo, don't interject here...) but I get antsy when something is in total disarray. I'm like an agitated mama bird with a hole in the side of my nest!
