Tomorrow you might have an official name. You might start officially stockpiling pink or blue clothes and your room might start to take shape in my mind. Because tomorrow we might find out if you are our little baby girl or boy. I am trying not to put all my hopes behind it since you could be feeling uncooperative. Friends have told me to drink something really sugary or with lots of caffeine right before we go for the sonogram. (Or is it an ultrasound? I can't keep it straight...) So tomorrow, my little one, this is the first of many times that I will ask you to do something because I say so. Just give us a little hint and be there in all your tiny perfectness. Your daddy is even missing work to come see you!
I talked with my friend Desiree last night. She is just a week or so behind me in her first pregnancy as well, and her "date of discovery" is June 12th. Your daddy is cousins with her husband, so I guess that makes you second cousins with their version of you. Wouldn't it be funny if you were the same gender? Your daddy and Brent spent a lot of time together growing up (and got in lots of trouble) so it would only be fitting for you to love their child and spend time with them too. Their baby is going to be very athletic and funny too (as I imagine it), so I know you will love them all. You will know it is your (2nd) cousin because he or she will no doubt have blond hair and some big gorgeous eyes, maybe blue.
I read this week that your hearing is working perfectly at this point and that you can hear me sing. I am trying to find songs on the radio that I can eventually sing to you as lullabies. My mom sang Carole King to me, so you probably get some of that too. We'll have to see if you have funny preferences for oldies or easy listening or just some relaxing acoustic guitar. Don't worry, I already have one Baby Einstein CD.
So back to the point. Tomorrow, do me a favor kid. Work with me! Smile for the camera! We can't wait to see you in all your glory. And then we get to celebrate and go shopping with your Grammy this weekend. And your Aunts Rachael and Amy and baby Emerson and maybe even Miriam are coming too. So give us something to talk about, okay? Love you!
