Cameron Darling,
I have no idea what to do with you sometimes. You are definitely a healthy girl, growing so fast that Mommy can't hardly keep you in shorts. But lately you have been doing something that totally mystifies me. I don't know what to think of it, so I am going to share it here in hopes that some other mom will give me advice. And I already know that you will die of embarrasment someday that I ever put this out on the whole stinkin' internet.
Now that I am reading Baby Wise #2, I realized that we will slowly have to transition you to eating more solids during the day. Most evenings you eat cereal at home around 6:30. You seem to act like you are still hungry after just a bottle, so we have upped the size to 6 oz. of formula. But now we have seen a very unfortunate consequence.
You are constantly having major poopy diapers. Like explosions. All over your clothes, your car seat, mommy's arm... Yeah. You were pretty "regular" in having one poopy diaper maybe every other day. Nothing disastrous. So now that this is a frequent occasion, meaning more than once every day, I am starting to wonder if this means we are feeding you too much or if you are not absorbing all the nutrients... Or something. You know how mommies can freak out and worry about every little thing.
But the thought of starting to give you actual baby food just makes me cringe. I hear the diapers only get worse. And right now, I cannot even imagine how that is possible. And Mrs. Cara will be the one to have to deal with you all day long once this starts. Better buy her a present - like a big tub of OxyClean.

I have a friend whose son started having bad diarrhea when she started introducing cereal and now foods. It turned out that he was allergic to them, and that is why he was having the diarrhea. Hopefully she's not allergic, but it might be something to consider or look into???
ReplyDeleteWe've had THREE already today... I hope we get this sorted out soon :)
ReplyDeleteWe had blowouts with Weiss, but probably not even once a week. Man! I don't know what to say about that one! I read Julia's comment--have you explored the option of a gluten- and casein-free diet? Has she had any dairy via formula? I don't know if she has an allergy or it could just be her little digestive system is just doing its job--a very GOOD job. OH--you were talking about baby food---Danielle has some great advice on homemade baby food, if you decide to go that route. She has some recipe books (I can't remember the lady's name right now since I've passed that stage...) that offer healthy, inexpensive ways to make baby food that little Joshua loved. Just a thought. Keep us posted with what the results are!
ReplyDeleteWe just started Owen on his orange veggies and his poop is slowing down. He used to poop everyday and now sometimes skips a day. I don't think I could handle several explosions a day! Lol
ReplyDeletei know i am late with this but if it's any consolation... ava pooped 5 times a day till she was ONE! yep...!
ReplyDeletesutton's now down to once a day which is a treat! he started with 10, then went down to 5 and now one. happy mommy!
this won't be the last time you talk about her poop, believe me! ;)
