A Late Shoutout!

I am a week late in saying so, but I wanted to go ahead and post it before I forget again. We had such a crazy week with all our wonderful visitors, but I didn't really mention all the fun you had with your Daddy's family. Grandpa, Gigi, and Chance were here last Wednesday for their annual trip to the San Antonio Stock Show. Chance works very hard year round to choose the right pigs and takes great care of them, and it usually pays off. This year he placed 5th in his class and when his pig went up for sale, it sold for $1000! We were all very proud of him and hope he does even better in the rest of the shows this year.

So to celebrate, we had a great dinner at La Fogata with all the Hughes family. They are like extended relatives! And we were excited to get to see Darrin and Bryce since they have announced that they are expecting a baby later this year! Yeah, new friends for you!

And your Gigi was having so much fun with you that she didn't want to miss out on any time. Friday you got to stay home and hang out with her instead of going to see Mrs. Cara, and then Daddy picked you up at lunch and took you back to his office. He was planning to leave early that day and thought you would be just fine there. You had already had so much excitement with everyone that you just crashed and took a long nap in their back room. Mommy had to work late that night, so he said he had a great time having you all to himself.

Then the next night is when we helped host our church group's annual fundraiser, the Texas Sweethearts Dinner. Our friends' parents have a beautiful house that is big and perfect for parties, so we take over their kitchen and try to give everyone a wonderful meal and a romantic (meaning kid-free) evening. Your Daddy managed to cook steaks and shrimp for 40 people, and your Grammy made the most scrumptious desserts we have ever had! Lots of people told us that this was the best year so far. Thank goodness we had the Mowreys and Walls to help us stay organized and deliver all the food. I think I would have turned into a basketcase! I can't take credit for any of the cooking, so I can brag that it looked delicious, even if I didn't really get much time to eat anything!

Anyway, it was a wonderful and exhausting week, capped off with our first trip to the zoo with Aunt Rachael, Grammy, Ryan and Emerson. You seemed to really love all the sounds since you couldn't really see too many of the animals. Everyone but us had a great time going into the bird exhibit where you can buy "nectar" and the birds land all over you to drink it out of your cup. One even sat on Daddy's head for a while! You were such a good girl, even though you had to hang out in your stroller most of the time. Daddy carried you around for a while and we enjoyed the beautiful weather. We really could have used a nap, but we never say no to family time. I can't wait to go back to the zoo when you will be a bit bigger and recognize some animals!
