Did I forget to mention....

That you have your first official illness? You have been such an incredibly happy and healthy baby all this time. I can't really say if it was breastfeeding for six months or staying with Mrs. Cara and avoiding daycare germs or what, but we were so pleased that you had not been sick.

And yet, when we got to Abilene on Saturday night, we were told that you had been running a low grade fever and were kind of cranky and drooling like crazy. So we just assumed more teething! But then on Monday morning, I noticed that your face was a bit red and splotchy, which I took to mean that you were allergic to something. I started frantically washing sheets and toys in case it was that, then I analyzed all the foods you had been eating and wondered if you had something that didn't agree with you.

Around noon on Monday (since we were thankfully home resting up instead of me going to work), your daddy said to just take you to the doctor if I was so worried about it. I had already gotten Dr. Keith's approval to give you a tiny bit of Benadryl, but it did nothing, so off we went. Thankfully, our pediatrician's office could see you at 2:00. It was our first time to sit in the "sick child" waiting room. We always go for "well child" checkups and don't have to park in Germville. You were pretty happy to watch all the bigger kids and didn't squirm too much while we waited. The doctor said that it looks like a viral rash, not contagious thank goodness, and that there is nothing that will really make it go away. She said you probably had the virus earlier and this is just a late symptom. She did give us some baby Zyrtec, but it didn't really seem to help either.

The most unfabulous part is that you were a bit more cranky than usual and could not seem to sleep through the night. You would go to bed at nine and wake up crying at 10:30. Then again at 3:30 (your favorite time of night, I think). Just last night, you finally seemed to be back to normal and sleep well. The rash is still there I think, but your mood definitely seems better.

Bad news is that Rachael sent me a message today that Emerson has a rash now too. Nice job on spreading the love.
