Home Sweet Home

Mommy is finally up and feeling pretty good. Daddy had to keep things brief with our last post, so I wanted to fill everyone in on the rest of the details! Cameron made her arrival in just six short hours of labor (major answered prayer!) even though we were expecting to spend the night in the hospital with some medicine working to induce labor the next morning. Fortunately, contractions started around 8:00 and progressed quickly, so we were very suprised to find out that I had dilated to a four and could have an epidural! Turned out to be the greatest thing in the entire world, because before the doctor had finished putting it in, I had already dilated to a nine and it was time to push! She was born at 1:48 am and weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz., and measured 20 1/2 inches long. Just perfect.

She is such a gorgeous baby! Didn't look too squished, no cone head, and she has beautiful skin and soft features. We decided yesterday that she looks a lot like her daddy, especially her long skinny fingers and toes. One doctor said she could play the piano with those toes! But all of her visitors have commented that she looks too perfect to be so new. The one thing that is undeniably Mommy is her big eyes, even though right now they are a very deep blue. We will have to keep our fingers crossed that they stay that color and don't fade out to brown. Her hair has just a touch of red, and can't wait to try out some tiny hairbows and headbands in just a few short months!

We arrived home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and are trying to work out the kinks of eating and sleeping. Mommy is so blessed to have her family staying with us for a little while to cook and go shopping for us. It is wonderful to have her big sister as our resident expert on baby things, since Emerson is only 10 months old. We have already had to learn so much about the best ways to take care of you! Daddy has perfected his technique on swaddling you and calming you down, and he has said over and over how much he loves to have you sleep on his chest. It is so adorable to see how tiny you look in his arms, and he is so comfortable with you.

Yesterday, your Uncle Mina and Aunt Amy and Miriam came to visit from College Station and we had a bit of a photo shoot! Here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Emerson is such a happy girl!

Miriam looked so grown up riding Frisky in the back yard.

Hi Frisky!

Daddy was so excited to show you your room for the first time!

Please ignore Mommy's hair... I was excited to take a shower and didn't make it much farther than that!

Daddy can't seem to hold you enough.
