Days Gone By

Things have been so pleasant at work lately. We are gearing up for another school year, but I feel like I have things under control (for now) and am enjoying the subtle changes around the office. We are in the process of hiring two new people but I think I will very much like them both.

It seems like the days are going by so quickly! We spent one evening having dinner this week with friends, then the next two nights your daddy was off playing softball (funny story on that later) and replenishing Frisky's stash of hay. Every time he comes home with a whole bunch of bales, he pulls his truck into the backyard right next to the barn so he doesn't have to unload them as far. I tell him it looks like a Wrangler commercial. And he does look a bit like Brett Favre when his whiskers are scruffy... (Check out that hot photo!) Wow, I just realized that you will never know Brett Favre as the Green Bay quarterback. (That was the big news of this week. He just got traded to the NY Jets.) Well, the summer olympics are also starting in China. If they didn't come on at 2:30 in the morning, I think I might be more interested!

Well, tomorrow we are heading off to Abilene to see Grammy. Got a little shopping and registry stuff to do. It is so crazy to think that in a few months we will have a nursery all put together for you. Maybe at some point I will actually learn what all this stuff does...

Your daddy has a weekend all to himself (and Joe Dog) so we will see if he gets your crib all finished up. Let's see... It has only been four weekends since we started! But it would be great to come home and see it freshly painted white. No more guest bed, so we are down to limited availability at the Kilpatrick Inn!

Finally, I must tell you about your daddy's softball game. You will learn that he is super competitive. He called me after the game (I opted not to go sit on uncomfortable bleachers for an hour and a half) and was so bummed because they lost by one run and he totally blamed it on his two errors. But the weirdest part was that he said he had a "collision" in the outfield with another guy! Neither of them caught the ball, and he ended up with a big bruise and some serious soreness the next day. All for recreational softball! I can already see myself having the same conversation with you. "If you are playing for fun, you have to get over it! You can't win 'em all! You just have to learn from your mistakes and try harder next time!" And I had to force him to use an icepack. Now who's the trainer in the family?
