Fourteen Months Just Fly By

Late again, but I didn't want to miss out on saying what an amazing month you have had. You are getting so grown up and smart, Little One! After we got home from Christmas, Mommy spent a whole day organizing your room again. All the baby things are slowly leaving. No more swing, no more jumperoo, all your 12 month clothes are packed up. You got a new bookshelf for Christmas from Grammy, so now you really seem to have a little girl's room rather than a baby nursery. I just couldn't bear to get rid of the rocking chair just yet in case you humor us with a snuggle moment or too. As I was unpacking the 18 month clothes, I thought "Surely these will just swallow you up!" And of course, they fit just fine. When did you grow so much? Even your feet! We had to pack away some really cute little shoes that were way too snug, but now you can fit the adorable Robeez that Mommy got you months ago - hot pink with a smiling yellow daisy on top.

Every day you have just amazed your daddy and I with new things. Last week, I asked you if you needed me to change your diaper and you lifted up your shirt, pointed at your diaper (you try to say it, but mostly just the "di" part comes out), and then you opened and closed your hand at me like I do when I want you to come here. Then you marched right into your bedroom! I was blown away. I turned to Daddy and said, "I think she just told me to come change her diaper!" And you are trying to say tons of new words. We love to hear you say milk especially - "MUK!" You still use a little sign language too. This morning you touched your cheek and said Daddy to tell him thanks. Daddy had the biggest smile and had to rush over and give you a kiss.

By the way, you totally have him wrapped around your finger. Just last night, we were having a tough discussion about work and finances and your daycare. And he got so emotional about how much he just wants you to learn and grow and be happy. He said he can't believe how much he loves you, in a huge and special way, and that he wishes he could spend every day home with you. That he doesn't want to miss anything, and that no amount of money is worth being left out of your life. He is the proudest man in the world. He marvels at how beautiful and intelligent and happy you are, and he would do anything for you. I love to hear him call us his two girls.

You are growing up so fast because you are such a good eater, I am sure. Now that you are working on your seventh and eighth teeth (one on bottom and another on top) you are up for eating just about everything! Never shy about asking for more, we joked with the Gilbreaths that we should make you a t-shirt that says "Are you gonna finish that?" You always want to eat some of whatever is on Daddy's plate, and he is always generous to hold you in his lap and share. It is forcing us to make sure that we eat healthy foods too and have a balance of fruits and veggies so that we are a good influence!

December 30th was when you turned fourteen months old, so we finished out the year happy and healthy. And off we go again, the days just flying by. Every day is an adventure with you, and we are trying to never take for granted what an amazing gift and responsibility it is to be your parents. We pray that the things we teach you now will all be done with the end goal in mind - the kind of person we want you to grow up to be. Thanks for all the laughs and love, my sweet Cameron!
