Too Much "Labor" Day

Sweetie,
Your mommy is pooped. I can't believe how quickly this week has past, and I haven't even told you about our weekend yet. Saturday we spent the ENTIRE day at the hospital for their childbirth class. It was.... eye opening! We did learn some really valuable things to do (like how to amuse yourself during those first seven hours of labor when nothing is really happening) and got to see lots of pictures of what you are doing to my body. I don't think I had contemplated just how squished all of my organs are until I saw the poster. No wonder I can't eat much or breathe!

The only part that freaked me out was having to watch three different videos of giving birth. For one thing, it confirmed my feeling that I don't want to see it, photograph it, even discuss it later. It is a natural process, but ain't nothin' about that beautiful. Except you! And secondly, what in the world possessed these people to volunteer to be videotaped through the whole day in order to show it to millions of other people? Yikes. One woman was actually very calm through the entire ten hours or so, and I couldn't believe she didn't want any medication! I love you and all, but I don't think that feeling every contraction will make me any closer to you when you are born!

We did get to spend time this weekend with lots of friends and enjoyed a day off on Monday for Labor Day. Unfortunately, your daddy and I decided to do a little work around the house and it about killed us. We got up early and worked in the garden until we both collapsed from the heat around 10:45. (Me, literally, in the grass.) No more bending over to pull weeds! So your Grammy was passing through New Braunfels on her way home from visiting College Station this weekend, and we got to have a lovely relaxing lunch in Gruene. She also passed along a few presents for you from friends and she picked out a faboo summer dress for you.

Then we had a rousing afternoon running errands that commenced with a trip to Home Depot with your daddy. I unfortunately talked him into buying a new kitchen faucet (that I have been wanting for years now), which meant that he had to go home and install it right then. Apparently, the plummer that put in the original one was Hulk Hogan, because it was on so tight that we had to saw the pipe off under the sink. It just would not unscrew and come off! Both your daddy and I got all grumpy and didn't get to bed until 11:00 and totally regretted it the next day when we had to get up and go to work. So you are my witness, he said he would agree to not do late night projects anymore when I remind him to go to bed!

And now, the week has flown by. Things are always crazy at work this time of year, so Tuesday night I stayed until 6:00 and last night a few of us were here until 7:00! By the time I picked up dinner and made it home, it was already 8:00 and I just wanted to crash... At least we have another nice weekend to look forward to. We will be hanging out with your daddy's family and friends for a fun shower in honor of you! We will have to take lots of pictures, and we might even get to see your "cousin-in-the-making" Owen!

Even though you are getting bigger by the week, it is still crazy to think that you are going to make your big debut in less than two months! Your daddy is so ready to hold you in his arms. Last night we were laughing because I told him that we can't hurry because "this turkey isn't finished yet." He joked that we need a big turkey baster to make sure you don't get too dry! But you had better make it here WAY before Thanksgiving, little one!
